Kokrajhar Cancer Centre Observes World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is observed worldwide on February 4 every year to raise awareness for a cancer-free society. Aligned with the theme for this year – Close the Care Gap – Kokrajhar Cancer Centre organised awareness programmes which included engaging activities, meetings, and rally. Emphasis was laid on prevention and early detection which, in turn can help cure cancer. Dr AR Sharma - Joint Director, Health Service, Kokrajhar - was invited as the Chief Guest at the programme organised at Mallgaon HWC, under Balajan Health Block. Also, present were SDMO of Balajan Block and other district officials. A Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening was also held for all. At Kaljhar HWC in Dotma Block, NCD screening camp and a rally was organised. The rally started from Kaljhar Duramari HWC up to Higher Secondary School. The rally, graced by Gaon Burha and other prominent personnel, witnessed a large number of participants. A meeting with Varnali Deka - Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar, was also held. Various aspects of cancer like diagnosis, prevention, and treatment protocol were discussed in the meeting, where emphasis was laid on early diagnosis to help cure cancer. This meeting comprehensively discussed strategies to combat the rising cancer rates. Additionally, ribbons with World Cancer Day theme were distributed. This ribbon is a symbol of unity in the battle against cancer and serves as a reminder to stay determined despite all odds.
